"I cannae do it Cap'n... I dun have de powah!"

So, for a while there, I had tons of time to update. I could write and post three or four times a day! Not that I did, but I could. I did post twice in a day a couple of times. But things are getting busy for me now. Its not difficult or hard, just… busy. And then, there are days like yesterday.

I got up at the usual time, not the but-crack of dawn anymore by the way, but as late as 745, because the boys don’t necessarily need me to make them breakfast (even though I do it on the weekends) or lunches or whatever. Got dressed, took the dog out, then left to head out to work. When I was out with the dog, the sky had been partly cloudy, but looking like it was going to be sunny after all. But, as I peruse the morning sky now… it looks like rain. And guess what! Wurr..wurrrr.wurrr… wurrrr… then the rabbit-fast clickclickclickclick of the starter then nothing. The Jeep ( I drive a maroon Jeep Cherokee ) wouldn’t start. Sooo.. now I’m hosed. See, Mondays are the busiest day of the week at the new job. Actually there are all around in tech support, but here as well. But anyway, the teachers of the various classes from my new company, invariably have issues on Monday’s as well. Damaged in shipping, missing parts because the last person to use the set didn’t return everything, so on and so forth. Soo.. not being there, that’s kind of a problem. One that is going to have to be today, because I can tell by the sound of the crank, this hunk o crap aint’ goin’ nowhere. Here’s another interesting little tid-bit about my Jeep. A year ago, I was planning on changing the oil in my truck. Yesh, I call it the truck. SO I go to open the hood (the bonnet for you Euro types :D) and the handle that you pull.. snaps right off in my *not*-so-hulk-like-hands. I am not by any stretch the worlds most powerful man, I am fairly sure that LA’s Mick, could tie me into a pretzel and kick me for a field goal in Los Angeles. But there it went, snap in my hand. So I MacGuyver a temporary solution(I stripped off the cable then wrapped a vise grip with the naked wire so now every time I have to open the hood I hold the plastic wire covering and pull on the vise-grip), change the oil and I am done with it. And since then I just use my MacSol, and don’t worry about it. Now though, there is serious work to be done on the engine. A tow-guy shows up and opens the hood with my MacSol, then he sees my MacSol and starts laughing and shaking his head. Opens the hood, and I hadn’t looked at the engine in a while, because while brilliant, my MacSol is not fun. Anyway, we had some Africa-hot days this summer and did you know that the water in a battery can get all steamy, then pop the lids off the element housing? I didn’t. But its true, and it did, and now I was screwed. Tried the whole distilled water thing, but it didn’t help at all. By now, I have called (Lisa) and she’s showed up. I take her car, go to Napa, get new battery, and return. Buuuutttt… guess what starts as I show up with new battery. THE RAIN!!!

I waited as long as I dared yesterday, then went out into the rain, put the hood (bonnet) back up, and swapped out the new battery, for the old one. In the freakin rain. = Not a long process, but long enough to make me cold, sore, tired and frustrated.

So… how was YOUR Monday? :D
