With the advent of that banner you see above, I shall be… somewhat distracted :D. BUT… I would like to state that at any time anyone would like to begin playing the best video game ever created, now is the time to do so. The artwork is stunning, the “play” fantastic, the battle engine is good. And the back-story…. Unbelievable. I love it… :) this game just keeps getting better and better :D

The back story of Warcraft tells of an epic struggle between Good and Evil. But which is which? The Alliance is comprised of Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, Men and Dreanei (a new racial group in the game) and the Horde is made up of Orcs, Trolls, Undead, Blood Elves, Tauren (a minotaur like race) to choose from. Each has their own way of doing things and have clashed with one another for thousands of years. Until now. Arthas, The Lich King, has brought his vast armies back to Azeroth with one goal – the total destruction of all life. But, the arrival of the Lich King has also brought the two warring factions to a hostile armistice with one goal: Destroying the Lich King’s minions.

For those who have never played, don’t knock it till you try it. There are BUNCHES of different ways to play this game, and honestly there is something for everyone. If you have never played a PC game in your life, there is room for you here. This game takes that into account and teaches you at your own pace. You learn the history of Azeroth (the made-up realm this game is based in) and adapt yourself to playing in it. There are different modes to play as well. You can play in a “Normal” environment, where you battle the environment around you to accomplish specific goals. You can play in a Role Play environment which allows you to adopt the character you are playing, and interact with other players based on the story and background you create for your character. Or (and this is the kind I play in) there is Player Vs. Player. It’s a combination of the other two, but also allows for in-fighting among the two major factions. It allows for direct confrontation with other people playing the game is incredibly competition oriented. The others are somewhat as well, but to a much lesser degree.

You can choose the type of race you want, the type of class you want to be (rogue, mage, paladin, etc.) you can change the basic characteristics when you start out (like hairstyle, facial features, etc) and you can even choose professions with which to earn money! There are all kinds of in-game social structures which you become involved in as well. The decisions you make shape your play forever too, because joining some factions will forever keep you from joining others.

Don’t knock it ‘till you try it, and try it out folks! :) Its… WAAAAY fun! :D
