(DAMNIT !!!! I didn’t want to rant on this, but a button has been punched….sorry!)

So… for those who read the rant about organized religion(which is two clicks back by the way), let me say that I did receive a response from LA’s notes-poster “The Christian”. My discussion with that person is either not going to happen at all or is going to be protracted. Mostly for the reason that I got the response I expected, and it boils down to two things: The person does not know the history surrounding the Bible, and absolutely has the stubborn refusal of most so-called “Christians” to separate religion not only from Government, but to actually understand what the Bible is about. The Bible is NOT the word of God. It has been translated from various texts (of which the originals didn’t exist even when the first efforts began to create a Bible) and edited and re-edited to create the finished product. Also let me say that I replied with content for the individual’s perusal, more than 24 hours ago, and have yet to receive a reply. “The Christian” DID say that the subject would be addressed “once”, so I am doubtful of a reply. The person also told me that the Bible is absolutely the word of God, and that there are no inconsistencies.

ANYWHO… I guess now I need to lecture, and, while I doubt I shall receive a reply in any form from that person again, I think it’s almost a duty to give this info out. By the way, I am not disputing the existence of God. I am not disputing the existence of Jesus. I AM saying that Christians who believe the Bible is the word of God, that it is infallible, are wrong, and that basing their life on the word of the Bible is a life spent in ignorance.

Most are aware that the Old Testament is loosely based on Judaism, and the practices of that faith. But, did you know that the Old Testament has been pruned so that it doesn’t contain any of the information of the Hebrew Bible that directly conflicts with Christianity, or the practices outlined in the New Testament? How many of you were aware that for hundreds of years, a Rabbi was the guy who was trained as a young man to verbally reproduce the stories and laws of the Tanakh ( an acronym for the Hebrew Bible)? Hmm… I wonder how many of them got it wrong until someone finally wrote it down? Anyway during the “creation” of the Bible, it was decided that with the arrival of Jesus that they no longer needed to talk about the entire basis of their faith, and that they could “do away with” various parts of the “Word of God”. These men decided that. Basically they decided what did and did NOT need to be in “their” Bible. They shaped the Bible to fit their own purposes. Men did this, not God.

The short story is, as I said before, that Churches and Men calling themselves Learned and Wise and Holy have decided the courses for the teachings of their Churches. Not knowing the history or refusing to understand that there are MANY things left out because they were inconvenient is not ignorance. Its childish. “Jeez, I don’t want to learn that, it might cause me to change how I THINK! That would be bad!” Much like the letter I got, it’s a closed-minded approach to worshipping God. Christians interpret the various parts of the Bible how they want and when they want and ignore things that “are not necessary anymore” because its convenient. So… who gets to decide when something is convenient and when its not? Because, like I mentioned before, if God was here to talk to someone about how to Worship, then I had a couple of things I wanted to talk to Him about, and could they tell me how they contacted him? Maybe I can avail myself of the same tool.

All in all, I think the Christians who choose to continue to stick their heads in the sand are cowards and bullies. “The Christian”, you spoke in your letter about entitlements, and how you have a problem with people who expect certain things are entitled to them, the whole “People who choose not to work” . If you are actually working two jobs, then you are one of the people who’s taxes aren’t going to change, so why would you ever have an objection to a change in the tax plan? No… I think you fit exactly into the mold I outlined. Ignorant. You didn’t do your homework so you are running along with the mob saying “No new taxes!”. A sense of entitlement prevails in this nation because the Constitution SAYS it should. I don’t think you have the slightest idea of what suffering is. I doubt you have the first clue about what hardship means, and if you did, then why for any second would you allow someone else to suffer, regardless of who they are, what they are, and how they live? How could you POSSIBLY for one second allow for a LOWERING of benefits to those who need it, because someone who doesn’t might get it? That’s absolutely idiotic. Let’s all starve ourselves because that guy over there shouldn’t get any food at all. There is a DIFFERENCE between not *wanting* to work, and not being able to FIND work. And one other thing, before I end my post (because I am nearly frothing at the mouth and my co-workers are starting to worry I am going to pull out a gun). The Ten Commandments has NOTHING to do with obeying the laws of the land.

For those that are curios, feel free to start your investigations into the creation of the Bibl, what’s been left out, and how it may or may not affect the teachings. Again, I do not dispute God or the existence thereof. I dispute the ignorance that consumes most people in their knowledge. Spend some time, GETTING it before you spout out crap about things you don’t have a comprehension of before you come to the table with the big kids.

For “The Christian” who claims to follow ALL the parts of the Bible and believe ALL of the words of the bible, When was the last time you stoned someone to death for working on the Sabbath?(Because regardless of how or when you worship, the Sabbath is still the Sabbath) How many times has the town you live in stoned someone who planted different crops side by side? Have you burned your neighbors or children for wearing garments made of two different threads? When you have done ALL of those, get back to me about your “beliefs” and how VALID they are you ignorant ASS!
