(PRE_ENTRY INFO)[post pre-entry info. So, a couple of posts back over in LA’s neck of the internet, she posted a sort-of rant about the Bill of Rights, and Christianity. I answered in her guest-book, because someone responded with the name “The Christian”. I have… issues with most organized religions, because all in all religion is the basis of every conflict between men and countries since history began. Many of the worst atrocities ever committed were done so in the name of that word… religion. To date, Christianity has the record for being the instigator in most of those atrocities due to its insistence of “The One True Word of God”. Most so-called Christians have no idea about the basis of their church, nor the history surrounding Christianity. 99% spout the words of the Bible and have no idea not only what those things mean, but how they came to be in that book in the first place. Most are… New Testament-ers and really spout nothing but platitudes. They are also unaware of how many inconsistencies there are between the old and new testament. Most tend to grow up following a certain doctrine then live their life according to what they learned from that doctrine, and label that “Faith”. Proclaim themselves “Saved” and everyone else going to Hell. The problem with that is, it breeds inflexibility, intolerance. Not only that, but also it breeds ignorance. When I say ignorance I mean that on many levels ranging from no knowledge to a stubborn unwillingness to learn new things about their religion or allow it’s precepts to change. Further, People who are saved and what not tend to say things like “That’s the work of the devil” because what they learned growing up as church doctrine says so. However it’s this that bothers me the most: The Bible spells out exactly what punishments should be meted out for what things. And yet, not a one of them does it, for fear of going to jail. Now, when someone replies, well, the Bible was written in a far-ago time, and the punishments are archaic. Well now you have wandered into the area of “interpreting the Bible” therefore interpreting the word of God. But isn’t the Bible the literal word of God? Therefore its THAT punishment that must be given. Either you believe that the Bible is the word of God, or you don’t. There are no two ways about that. If you believe that the Bible is the “Literal Word Of God”, then you are STILL disobeying God’s laws. God’s Laws call for specific things, things that don’t happen in today’s society, because most of them are deemed illegal and will get you sent to jail. I can ALMOST guarantee that you go to church on the wrong day of the week. That you don’t keep the correct day Holy. Most Christian Sects do that. Worship incorrectly, on the wrong day. So… which parts of the Bible do you follow, and why do you follow them? Which parts of them do you .. believe? As a Christian? And why those, and not all? If you have trouble, let me save you some time. It’s ignorance. Most likely not knowing the truth about yourself, or knowing the truth about your habits. OR… and worse, it’s ignorance of true suffering, ignorance of the pain of others. Ignorance of what it means to “Walk in someone else’s shoes”. Ignorance of the history or situation. And, whether willful or not, that’s something you will have to decide for yourself. Whether to remain ignorant or not.

Now… all that said: Let me add that as a whole, Christians tend to object to having their various methods of Faith criticized or challenged. And, generally when challenged, over the past 2000 years, they have become militant. (expletives deleted). Now… of the two (major) political parties in our country, which one stands MORE on the side of compassion and consideration than the other. Which one is more likely to be supportive of a person in need, than the other? I have to admit that this is a subject that I am… passionate about. I will honestly say I am irrational about some of the things that people, who claim to be “Saved” and have the title “Christians”, say. But that’s about ignorance and rigidity, rather than an issue with their opinion. Because honestly, if they weren't ignorant, they would not hold the opinions that sets my teeth on edge, and I would likely not be bashing them now. I speak DIRECTLY to the person who used the moniker “The Christian” in LA’s notes: Defend yourself.
