Extreme Insanity

Over a long variety of posts, I believe that I have stated in no uncertain terms, that I believe in the basic tenets of the Democratic Party. That I would rather that the Government provide a WEALTH of services and programs to the needy than one single family go without. The numbers of people without homes, without food, without jobs, are actually staggering. They continue to say that those statistics are dropping, yet, in reality, they have only changed the way the counting and reporting of those statistics is done. Here’s the thing: The government only counts a few of them. For instance, did you know that if you go longer than 6 months without a job, the government says you are no longer unemployed? The same is true for homeless people. If you are homeless longer than 6 months, they no longer classify you as homeless. I want to know what they DO classify people as. I’ve cited the number of homeless in this country before and have no desire to go back in to the specific stats about it. People in this country go hungry and without shelter every night of the week. There is a fuel crisis that is about to cause the worst economic disaster in the history of man. But those things I am not going to mention today. It’s not this that I want to discuss, that I would like to have people discussing.

What I would like to talk about is the fact that the US Government is spending 10 billion dollars a month in Iraq, supporting the war. An amount that no one in any arm of our government would EVER consider spending on the things we need at home. Even if someone DID consider it, do you honestly think the spending of it would ever get passed?

Why is it that this country continues to spend money in an arena that has yielded no benefit to the American people? Wanna know an interesting fact? More soldiers have died in Iraq alone than the total number of people who perished in the 9/11 attacks. Yep… our tactics are definitely winning the war on terror, let me tell you! I absolutely wanted that many people dead in an effort to oust the leader of another country, and install a different government. The sheer chutzpah that someone could EVER believe that we can decide how to better lead another nation, is unbelievable. It would be akin to a Muslim Nation deciding that they need to destroy leaders of our country then install a Muslim/Islamic government in its place. Because they feel they know better, and the American People are living under tyrannical rule and they want to help us throw off the yoke of tyrrany. The United Nations, the United States, and other countries have allowed despots and dictators to rule without issue for decades. If we like them. I give you Cuba. Less than 90 miles from Miami, a despot rules with an iron fist, and yet, we went to the middle east to fix it. And not only do some of the people of this nation support the idea behind it, they also support a man for President who will CONTINUE to do the same thing.

Isn’t the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome? So shouldn’t voting for someone who will continue the war, by definition, insane?

We need a change from the insane folks. Yesterday, a friend said to me that extremists make the changes. I agreed and disagreed with him, and told him that while extremists make change intelligent debate and passion make change for the better. Who wants to debate with me?
