And NOW... back to our SNOW!

So… while I make preparations for the forcasted blizzard that is approaching my fair city, please enjoy the following interlude:

Over the weekend, I took a rare opportunity to see a movie. I do on occasion see movies, but generally, its in the company of my sons that I see them, or a group of friends. Rarely, nearly blue moon-like, do I have the chance to get out and see a flick by myself. On the rare occasions (more now since the boys are substantially older and can mostly look out for themselves) that I have to myself, I generally spend it in the book store or the library, knowing that I will have the chance to peacefully browse my addiction without the interruption of “Hey Dad!...” over something that they have discovered (or done to one another). But this weekend, I had a chance to get out to the movies and see a new flick. Did I perchance see the new comic-based movie The Spirit? Nooo… Did I yet again attempt to sit through the banality of Keanu Reeves as Klatu, in previously stated mediocrity? Nooo…

I saw Gran Torino. Honestly folks… this is Clint Eastwood’s best work ever. I wanted to be able to describe the movie in epic terms. Turn the tables to make you see the main characters point of view, but I also don’t want to give anything away. This is a movie that everyone should see. It defines acceptance, it defines wisdom over coming ignorance, it defines heroism. As I sit here and think back to the movie, I am once again moved to overwhelming emotional turmoil. If you see nothing else before the Oscars – Go. See. This. And yes, it’s worth every nickel you will spend even if you don’t get to the matinee… For those who have NOT seen the trailer, or don’t know the movie at all…

Here is a link to the previews:

BUT… I think for those who HAVENT seen the previews, the movie will be more fulfilling than if you do see them. Happy Viewing all :)
