And now.. back to our show! :D
Umm… yah. I have lots to report. The holiday has been…. Quite eventful. Lisa fell in the parking lot of her office and broke her leg on December 22. It was a 6 inch long spiral fracture of the fibula which required surgery. The surgery was a week ago yesterday. As I happen to have had the weeks off surrounding that misfortune for her, I did a lot of the mundane stuff for her while she has been laid up. She ended up with an 8 inch steel plate screwed to the bone to knit all the broken pieces back together again. And a walker+wheelchair combo to get around in. Then Sunday night, her son called her in the middle of the night saying that his girlfriend had gone in to labor…eight weeks early. So, in the middle of the night I take her to the ER/Hospital where they are, and wait. Then wait more… and eventually… it’s no longer time to be sleeping… its now time to be working. Soo… I grab up my jazz and head to work. To make a long story short, the baby was eventually born and both mom and new baby girl are fine. All peripheral parties to the birth are also fine all though much stress was had by all, including new dad, who is likely the most macho guy I have ever known. He cried too. The birth was last night, 5lbs 2 oz, 18 inches long. Aubrey Anne is doing well in the NICU of her birth hospital. I spent the birth in the waiting room. Watching Pimp My Ride. Because the TV sucked. = Yipp. Eeee. The baby is beautiful. Born with a full head of hair and wonderfully developed lungs for one born so early, she has brought a smile to everyone who has seen her. It’s an auspicious start to a new year, a birth in close proximity to me and my family. I’m not sure what to expect out of it. I hope though, it bodes well for us.
In Other News, I have weathered the plague that brought me low, and have recovered sufficiently to once again join the land of the living. Work started back in full swing yesterday, everyone’s time off doing very little for their level of stress and general level of pleasantness at any given moment. In my defense your honor, if I had been able to sleep for more than an hour Sunday night/Monday morning, I wouldn’t have accidentally pushed the button to delete all North American Servers. Just kidding! I didn’t delete them aaaallllll… just the one that backs up like NORAD and crap. :D Ok… not NORAD, but it was an important link in the business structure here…. Whoops. =. For those unaware, servers are “virtualized” these days by a software called VMWare (Virtual Management Software). They run like a piece of software, and work just like any server except they use no hardware. A Virtual Server does, however, manage things. Things like domains, hardware, networks, essential stuff like that. And when you reboot the hardware that its running on, those managed things? Yah they stop working. Incluiding whatever bridges and tunnels through the information superhighway they had made. Can you believe that people get mad about that? Huh… yah I didn’t think they would be so upset either. Ahh well, live and learn I guess. :D BTW.. I will now be broadcasting/updating from Virtual Siberia where I have been relegated to. Good Luck and good night Mrs. Calabash, where ever you are.
PS – If you haven’t seen the new version of “The Day the Earth Stood Still”, don’t bother. Mediocre remake at best.
